If you have uneven skin tone, spider veins, rosacea, age spots or large pore size you can benefit from color correction. If you are pregnant, nursing or have excessively tanned your skin in the last two weeks you will need to wait to have this treatment. There are some medical conditions such as poorly controlled diabetes, HIV and facial shingles that may make you a poor candidate for this service. A full medical history is always taken by our skin care specialists prior to any treatment in order to ensure your safety. Men must note that this treatment may cause some hair loss so areas of the face where this is undesirable will need to be avoided.
Color Correction uses elōs technology which combines light and radio frequency energies to treat benign pigmented and vascular lesions as well as mild textural problems. The lesions will absorb the light and raise the temperature of the targeted tissue. The radio frequency energy then flows to the heated area elevating the temperature to a level required for effective treatment. After your treatment vascular lesions will fade from sight, while pigmented lesions will darken and flake away within a week. This treatment may be combined with our Triniti Total Skin Rejuvenation to improve skin tone, reduce wrinkles and firm your skin.
It is important that you avoid intentional tanning 2 weeks prior to your treatment. This includes tanning booths and the use of self tanners. You should also avoid irritant topical agents, such as Retin A, 2-3 days prior to your treatment. Arrive with clean skin. Avoid applying lotion, make-up, perfume, deodorant or bath oil on the area being treated. You should also shave the area as the hair will absorb the optical energy you want to go to your target area.
You will be asked to cleanse your skin upon arrival. You will be given protective eyewear that will remain in place during your treatment. A layer of gel will be applied. When the applicator is applied to the skin you will feel coolness with some pressure followed by a sensation similar to a hot pinch feeling. This will last for a fraction of a second. A warm tingling sensation may be felt for a short time after your treatment.
You will likely see results as soon as your first treatment. The total number of treatments required is dependent on your individual skin. The vast majority of people will achieve desired results within 3-5 treatments.
You may want to immediately cool the treatment area with cold packs. During the first two days following treatment you should prevent any trauma to the site by avoiding such things as hot baths and massage. Keep your face soft with a good moisturizer and use a high factor sunscreen for at least one month after treatment. Tanning may cause hyperpigmentation.
No clinician should promise permanent results from any treatment. Your skin will continue to age over time and if you expose it to sun and smoke you will continue to cause damage. Use of a good skin care line, proper use of sunscreen and stopping smoking can prolong the results. For best results a yearly maintenance program can be set up.
