Juvederm injectable gel is designed for the person looking to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. It is contraindicated for people with severe allergies or a history of anaphylaxis. We also do not recommend this treatment to pregnant or nursing women.
Juvederm injectable gel may be used to treat a variety of facial wrinkles and folds. The most common treatment sites are forehead line, nasolabial folds, vertical lip lines, marionette lines and chin wrinkles. You may also use the gel for plumping the lips.
As you age your skin reduces production of a naturally hydrating substance called hyaluronic acid (HA). Over time, this loss results in wrinkles and folds, like the parentheses lines around the mouth. Juvederm injectable gel replaces the HA your skin has lost. This will result in the smoothing away of wrinkles and folds. Juvederm is also the first smooth consistency HA gel on the market. You will not get the lumpiness or granular consistency often seen with other injectables.
On the day of your treatment your face will be cleaned and prepped. We will give you a prescription for a topical anesthetic when you schedule your appointment. You will need to pick this up prior to your treatment. The anesthetic will then be applied in our office thirty minutes prior to your injection. The physician will review the areas you would like to treat. You will then receive the injections of the Juvederm to these pre-determined sites. There may be some pain experienced with this procedure. We will do our best to keep you comfortable and relaxed throughout your injections. You will be able to see immediate results after your injection.
Wrinkle correction with Juvederm injectable gel is a quick in-office procedure. You should expect to see immediate results with little or no downtime. The most common side effects are redness, swelling, pain/tenderness, firmness or bruising. Any side effects should resolve in a few days. After your treatment you should avoid excessive sun or cold exposure.
The average person will maintain their results from 6 months to a year. Subsequent injections may require less product than your initial treatment. We recommend setting a six month follow-up appointment so the doctor can evaluate your treatment results. This allows us to work with you to set up the best plan of care to maintain your results.
