Who is a candidate for The Matrix IR Wrinkle Reduction treatment?The elōs technology enables Matrix IR Wrinkle Reduction to be a safe and effective solution for all skin types. It is not indicated for candidates with a pacemaker, pregnant or nursing women, candidates with poorly controlled diabetes, a history of skin disorders , blood coagulopathies or use of anticoagulants. A full medical history will be taken by our skin care specialist to ensure that you are a good candidate for this procedure. If you are taking medications that induce photosensitivity you must discontinue their use prior to starting your treatment. The procedure is most effective on skin that has not had excessive tanning. We ask that you refrain from tanning the skin in the sun, tanning booth or with tanning creams at least two weeks prior to your treatment.
Wrinkle treatments with the elōs technology use a combination of laser and radio frequency energies to significantly improve the skin on the face and neck. This stimulates collagen production and produces a firming effect in lax skin. A gradual process of collagen remolding occurs. You will continue to see improvements in your skin in the weeks following your treatment. Mild to moderate wrinkles are reduced, and the texture of your skin becomes more smooth and elastic. You will need to avoid skin tanning for a minimum of two weeks prior to your treatment. You should also discontinue any irritant topical agents, such as Retin A, for 2-3 days prior to treatments. Be sure to let your skin care specialist know if you have a history of herpes simplex (fever blisters). Arrive for your treatment with clean skin. There should be no lotion, makeup, perfume, and powder or bath oil present on the skin in the area to be treated.
Your appointment will start with a cleansing of the area being treated. You will be given protective eyewear that you will wear throughout the treatment. Gel will be applied. During the treatment you will feel a cooling sensation as the applicator is applied to your skin, followed by a sensation of heat or a slight snapping feeling. You may experience slight discomfort but it should not be painful.
